The Importance of Professional Waste Removal

  • Dog waste left in your yard can be a serious health hazard to dogs:

    • Pathogens: Dog waste carries pathogens like Salmonella & E. coli, which can cause food poisoning in dogs if ingested.

    • Parasites: Dog waste can harbor parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, and giardia. These parasites can infect dogs through ingestion or skin contact, leading to various health problems.

    • Toxic Mold and Fungi: Dog waste is rich in nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus, which are essential for the growth of mold and fungi. Feces retain moisture, creating a damp environment ideal for fungal growth. As mold and fungi grow, they produce spores that can spread easily through the air.

    • Pests: Dog waste can attract bugs, rodents, and snakes to your yard which can carry harmful diseases and ruin the health of your lawn.

  • Your dog’s waste gets tracked into your home if it gets left in your yard. This poses several health risks for your family:

    • E. coli and Salmonella: Dog feces contain bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella, which can cause food poisoning in humans.

    • Parvovirus: This highly contagious virus can survive on surfaces for extended periods. Tracking it indoors can put other dogs and even young children at risk of infection.

    • Roundworms and Hookworms: These parasites can be transmitted to humans, especially children, through accidental ingestion of contaminated soil or by skin contact.

    • Allergic Reactions: Dog feces can trigger allergic reactions in some individuals, especially those with sensitivities to animal dander or allergens.

    • Unpleasant Odor: Tracking feces indoors can lead to unpleasant odors, making your home uncomfortable.

  • Pet waste management is important for the health & safety of our communities.

    • EPA Position on Pet Waste: The EPA classifies pet waste as a nonpoint source of pollution. Runoff from rain or sprinklers can wash uncollected waste into storm drains, contaminating streams, lakes, and rivers with harmful bacteria, parasites, and excess nutrients.

    • Environmental & Health Risks: Just 2–3 days of waste from 100 dogs can pollute enough water to close a bay for recreation. The EPA urges pet owners to always pick up after pets and properly dispose of waste to protect public health, water quality, and the environment.

  • Dog waste left on your lawn can cause several problems:

    • Nitrogen Burn: Dog waste is high in nitrogen, a nutrient essential for plant growth. However, too much nitrogen can burn your grass, causing it to turn brown and die.

    • Spotty Lawn: The areas around the waste will often be the most affected, leading to an uneven and unsightly lawn.

    • Fungal Growth: Dog feces creates a moist environment that is ideal for fungal growth.

    • Disease Spread: These fungi can spread to other parts of your lawn, causing further damage.

    • Eyesore: Dog feces is simply unsightly and can detract from the overall appearance of your lawn.

    • Attracts Pests & Rodents: Pet waste attracts insects & rodents that can create nests in your grass & ruin the look of your healthy lawn.

To prevent these issues, it's crucial to make sure waste is managed promptly & properly.
